Boomi comes at data integration from the application side rather than the analytics side. Its history is connecting enterprise systems to each other — the integration platform as a service category — and data movement into a warehouse is one use among several rather than the whole product.

That is the distinction worth holding when comparing it against Fivetran or Airbyte. Those exist to land data in an analytical destination. Boomi exists to make systems work together, which includes APIs, application workflows, master data and events, with analytics as one consumer. Its own current description is the data activation company.

The platform is modular. Orchestrate builds agentic workflows. Companion puts Boomi expertise into AI agents. Embedded lets a software vendor build Boomi's integration capability into its own product and sell it onward. Runtime is the execution infrastructure. There is also explicit IT and OT coverage, meaning operational technology — industrial and plant systems — which almost nothing else in this category addresses.

It publishes an installed base of more than 30,000 customers, which makes it one of the largest by that measure in the landscape.

Pricing is described as flexible from small business to enterprise, with editions, and a free trial is offered. The editions themselves are published but their prices are not, so it lands in the same place as most enterprise integration software: the shape of the deal is visible, the cost is not.
